This is a mind map I created for teaching an argumentative essay for college composition. The students were asked to take a position on a development in educational technology by responding directly to one source and using at least three sources throughout. In teaching the assignment, I found that students were having difficulty understanding how academic writing takes positions in conversation with existing sources. I created a mind map to figure out how to teach that issue and ended up using the mind map in class.
