One of the big changes required by most lean companies is to break away from their departmental structure and organize their work around Value Streams. A Value Stream contains all of the tasks and processes required to create value for the customers. These processes all report into a Value Stream Manager who has full control of the sales, production, shipping, pricing, and profitability of the products within his/her value stream. Most lean companies have several value streams within a location and each value stream address a range of products with similar process and production flow.
